Evelyn Ott School of Dance is proud to offer technique focused training to all students. With a focus in technique and poise, our staff is certified to bring the very best in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, and Musical Theatre Training to your children. Our staff comes from a diverse background in the Performing Arts to include being Alumni of Evelyn Ott School of Dance, as well as traveling the world as professional dancers & instructors.
Denise Ott Land - Owner, Artistic Director
Denise is a graduate of the teachers training school at Kent State University & a member of both DEA and DMA- with which she is also a National Certified Examiner. She has a lifelong association with EOSOD through her Aunt, who founded the studio in 1940. Under Denises direction, the Charisma Performing Company was originally founded. The team has gone on to recieve numerours regional & national awards for Choreography, top scores, and has produced many regional and national title winners. Denise can be found traveling the country (and Canada too!) as an adjudicator for several competition circuits. Denises students have gone on to successful dance careers to include Broadway, the Rockettes, Theme Parks, Cruise Ships, and several professional dance companies.
Ryan Land - Studio Manager
Ryan Land has grown up at the studio - literally born on a recital night! He has emerged as our fearless leader, coordinating day to day efforts at both out Norfolk and Churchland locations. Ryan is perhaps the most motivated, and positive individuals working within Evelyn Ott School of Dance. He is responsible for many facets of the studios management and business administration. Ryan is our main connection in communication with students, teachers, and parents every single day. His efforts extend to assisting with registration, studio maintenance, marketing efforts, and coordination of special events to include the yearly recital. We are truly lucky to have Ryan as the best "traffic director" in the world by our sides every day.
Jayme Holcombe - Director Charisma Performing Co.
Jayme began her dance career at the age of 3 at Evelyn Ott School of Dance. She continued to dance throughout highschool and was a long time member of the Charisma Performing Company. While in high school, Hayme was selected to cheer at the Probowl in Hawaii.
Jayme began teaching dance after graduating in 2000 and has continued to teach locally. Jayme is the proud Choreographer & Director for the Charisma Performing company, having won multiple high scores and Choreography awards both regionally and nationally.
Kristen Rowland - Dance Dynamics/Extreme Team

Kristen began her dance career at the age of 5 at Evelyn Ott School of dance, going on to be a member of the "Variety" dance team, and a long time member of the Charisma Performing Company. She was also a dance graduate of the Governors School for the Performing Arts. Kristen began her teaching career with Evelyn Ott in 2002 and has gone on to teach various styles to various age levels. She is currently the director of the Dance Dynamics & Extreme Teams at our Norfolk locations. Performing credits include Second Wind Dance Co., ODU Dance, Kings Dominion, Holland America Cruise Lines & Stiletto Entertainment.
Vida Edmonds - Dancin' Divas & Dudes
Vida Edmonds has been a faculty member at Evelyn Ott School of Dance since 2000. She has been dancing since the age of 13 and joined Norfolk State University dance group her freshman year of college. She started as a student at Evelyn Ott in 1990 and later became a certified teacher and member of Dance Masters of America. She is also a National Certified Examiner for DMA in Ballet, Tap, and Jazz. Vida was formerly a member of the Adult Charisma Performing Company. She loves listening to music and teaching dance to all ages!
Jasmin Williams - Hip Hop Teams
Jasmin started her dance career at the age of 3 taking classes here at Evelyn Ott. She joined the Charisma Performing Company at the age of 10, dancing both regionally and nationally under the direction of Denise Ott Land. Jasmin is a Governors School for the Arts dance program graduate as well. Her training has taken her in many directions, dancing at both the Regional & National high school dance festivals. Jasmin most enjoys running and spending as much time as she can with her fur babies.
Janelle began her early training at Evelyn Ott where she was a member of the Charisma Performing Company for 7 years. She also was a dance graduate of the Governors School of the Arts in Norfolk, VA. Janelle has danced and performed at the American Dance Festival in Durham, NC & the Ailey School in NYC. She has recieved numerous scholarships and awards for her involvement in the dance community. In 2003 Janelle began attending Marymount Manhattan College on a dance and academic scholarship. There she was apart of the MMC Dance Company. In 2007 she completed her BFA in dance with a focus in modern dance and a minor in media studies.
EOSOD is delighted to welcome back our very own alumni. Rhiannon grew up in VB training with Denise Ott Land, along with Suzanne Long. She received many awards including Dance Masters of America Miss Dance Chapter #45 and a scholarship to University of South Carolina Summer Conservatory. She had the opportunity to study with Cynthia Gregory of ABT while she was there. She went on to perform at Busch Gardens in 1999 in “Rockin’ The Boat” and the first season of “Fiends in The FestHaus” for Howl-O-Scream. She has 13+ years teaching experience from local studios in the area. Some of her students have gone on to perform with The Rockettes, one of the ballerina girls in “Billy Elliot”, various music videos in New York and LA, and cruise ships throughout the world. She also had the opportunity to Choreograph for the Teen Miss, and Pre-Teen Miss Virginia Pageant from 2000-2010, and Miss Virginia Pageant in 2008 and 2009.
Stephanie Johnson originally from New Jersey and is a graduate of Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, with a BFA in Dance performance with a concentration in jazz technique. Stephanie has trained with The Dance Connection of Rockaway New Jersey Competition Team, The New Jersey School of Ballet, and The Radio City Rockette summer intensive program. Her credits include: Director of the NHL New Jersey Devils Dancers, Captain of the Devils Dancers, backup dancer to recording artists at Nokia Theatre and various venues throughout New York City. Stephanie performed with NYCDA and Theatrical Events at Waldorf Astoria, and NCAA Final Four Tournament. She was a featured dancer for an AOL commercial directed by Maksim Chmerkovsky from Dancing with the Stars, and Kelly Clarkson’s “Stronger” music video. Stephanie has modeled for Fashion Institute of Technology, Sesame Street Productions, MTV’s “The Seven”, Info commercials for Sparific and EverCool cooling towel. Choreography: The Dance Connection of Rockaway, New Jersey’s competition team for 5 years, Jerry Gibson’s Children’s Summer Theatre-Annie, Morris Catholic High School Drama Department-Fame, Les Miserables, Titanic, Twelfth Night, and The Civil War. Awards- Top Scoring Senior National Soloist, and National Best Overall Dancer. Stephanie’s choreography has won Regional and National Top Overall Scoring Groups and Shining Star choreography and entertainment awards.
Megan began her dance training at Evelyn Ott in 2000 and was a member of Charisma Performing Company for 5 years. She graduated from The Governor’s School for the Arts Modern Dance Program in 2007. Megan attended The University of the Arts in Philadelphia from 2007-2011 and graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance. As a junior, she was one of 10 selected to attend and perform in a two-week overseas exchange in France. After college, she began teaching early childhood ballet and beginner jazz classes at The Philadelphia Dance Academy. Megan has attended the Rockette Summer Intensive, as well as The World Dance Movement Summer Intensive located in Bari, Italy. In Philadelphia, she was part of Choreosplat Dance Works and performed with The Philadelphia Dance Ensemble at several Philadelphia Style Magazine events. Megan recently moved back to Virginia Beach where she is excited for her first year as a teacher for EOSOD and an apprentice for TRDance in downtown Norfolk.
